As researchers still had a doubt concerning the real significance of amulets of this shape, actually thought to depict the Hammer but without certainty, this find settled the question in a crystal-clear way. Runes are inscribed on the backside of the pendant reading HMAR x IS, in old Norse HAMARR ER which translates as "This is a hammer". Now the only remaining question is to know whether the craftsperson who cast this jewel had a partial knowledge of the runes, or if the placing and missing runes are a result of their will to imbue the amulet with magic.
